6th International Conference on Computation of Shell & Spatial Structures: Spanning Nano to Mega (28-31 May 2008 in Ithaca, NY, USA

Objectives

Consistent with the earlier conferences in this series, the objective is to provide an international forum for the presentation and discussion of recent advances on various aspects of analysis and design of shell and spatial structures.  In particular it is intended to reflect the state-of-the-art advances in computational methods in mechanics, software development, and engineering practice in this area.

It is essential to give the conference a broad perspective, namely to address advanced structural concepts and methodologies in a general context rather than concentrating only on models of selected structures.  In this regard, we intend the terms “shell and spatial structures” to be interpreted to include any long-span, lightweight, fabric, or thin-walled structures at a variety of scales, in a diversity of application fields, and in both technology and nature.  This is partly reflected in the subtitle of the conference, “Spanning Nano to Mega.”
